Tues 1st Jan Mornington Picnic in the Park
As planned we met up with Classic & Rod Club at Maccas Cranbourne a quick breakfast and 69 of the most beautifull Classics, Rods & Customs embarked on a great cruise to Mornington Park, we arrived at the front gate at 9:45 am to be greated by a short que and grassed parking area reaching it's capacity for cars.
It was a great day out. Considering after last years debacle it seemed it may never go ahead again then a group headed by two guys from Confederates Rod & Custom Club put thier collective hands up to take on the Challenge. This is a totally free day so no Club benefits from it. so again well done to all the voulenteers who put in thier time, I spoke to a couple of the Confederates big wigs at the end of the day and they were overwhelmed by the turnout.
One stipulation from council when they took this event over was that no more than 500 cars would be allowed on the Grassed picnic area, which brought a little laugh from all concerned considering last years attendance, well how wrong can you be even the organizers didn't expect that they'd have to close the the gates a little after 10am, at that stage they had reached the limit of 500 with who knows how many still circulating the park outside. What a turn out of some of the sweetest rides Victoria has to offer, I even met a guy who drove from Mildura, left home on the stroke of New Year (Midnight) last night and arrived at Mornington park at 9:15am What an effort, well done Mark. He was heading off for a sleep until 10pm when then he'll set off on the return leg to Mildura in his trusty 64 Mustang. Good luck safe trip Mark you're a man to be admired. This was a sensational day some amazing cars and great people, I counted approx 15 TBirds and got photos of most of them, I'll post em up later, right now I need a beer and some after sun lotion, Man i'm sunburnt, but it was worth it.

Hi Arthur
Not sure how Gio does it but you can open the Pic using Paint a Windows Program that will be on all computers using a Windows operating system and do it in there.

Is it a rule on this forum that we have to delete number plate info? It doen't bother me but just checking maybe I missed something.
I could understand if this was open to the public but we are all members here. Only special persons have the ability to look up plates and it is an even more headache to look up club plates through Vicroads. I know this as a fact.
Cheers.

It's not a rule we've ever put in place, I'm not sure we need worry about it, the cars are displayed and driven with number plates visible, If someone wants to track a car down go to a show and follow it home. it's easy enough to do. Gio is just playing it safe.
almost every forum I've visited (Hundreds) over the past few years, they display the car Reg No's.

Happy New Year Dave, just checking I thought that we had to hide our plates on this forum.
Anyway it looked like a great day with a lot of nice cars there. Did Michael (65tbird) bring his car?

Number Plates
Morning All,
WOW !!!
I didn't want to cause a stir in the Forum
The numbers on the rego plates were removed because l also posted the pictures on our 'Facebook Page ~ Thunderbirds Downunder' which is open to all.
As Dave mentioned, l just used 'Paint' which is a program within 'Microsoft Windows'to edit the pictures both to resize & remove the numbers.

Re: Tues 1st Jan Mornington Picnic in the Park
Ok i said I'd post some pics from Yesterday so here we go, Gio has put up most of the TBirds so I'll focus on the other cars
A mate of mine just purchased this little beauty a barn find in central victoria, He brought it along for a laugh, all steel body very rare these days, This will be a sweet Rod when he's done. The guy who sprayed the colour coats on mine is doing the body and paint on this one.

Mornington Picnic
Thanks for the photos, great turnout by the looks of it. That red 64 conv looks immaculate , is the owner on this forum ? Personal taste I know, but I too prefer the Flair Birds sans ck, doesn't interrupt the design flow.

To my knowledge the owner of the Red Vert is not a member here, last time i saw this car was last year at the Lincoln Mercury show at Docklands where it was for sale (I think and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) he had $75k on it. It is beautifull and well restored but $75k I think I could build myself 2 or 3 nice cars for that money. I think the owner was getting on in years and not using it enough, Thus the reason for the sale.

Last year at the out American Classics Car Show in Lilydale - he was taking to a TOCA member and was asking 100k,
So price has dropped.

Re: Tues 1st Jan Mornington Picnic in the Park
Yeah Giovanni
i believe that is correct it was $100k not $75k
Man talk about having your head in the clouds, It is a beautifull car but about $50k overpriced.
Last night I looked at an 1965 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88, the guy who owns it wants a Thunderbird for his collection but doesn't want to restore one.
The Olds needs some work but would be an easy resto, everything is there, it's straight rust free fully rebuilt 425 Engine Trans and has a 9" rear, I've gotta say i'm very tempted, she is a rare car here in Aus. The pic below shows same model but not the actual car, I'm thinking I would do it same as this one, maybe different colour. Thoughts
P.S The leader of the opposition is not happy, i might have to bring in a spin doctor to get this motion passed.
