A day in Ballarat ends with an annoying car problem.

Well anyone who went to Ballarat Beat Today expecting anything resembling Camperdown would have been bitterley disappointed
The Bands and the Rockabilly Boys and Girls were all there but unfortunately where Camperdown caters to an amazing Hot Rod, Custom and Classic car show, Ballarat council allocated enough space to display less than 40 cars we actually counted 36.

The crowd,
No gathering is probbably a more correct term was very very poor, and I believe this was due to Ballarat Councils thinking that Rockabilly would be enough without the cars......Result....In my opinion.......EPIC FAIL.

a 2 day pass was $120 per person this gave you access to some pubs and venues who had bands appearing, That's cool if you enjoy that.

For $10 you could visit the Market Stall area and Car Display (36 Cars) this also allowed access to a stage area with some reasonable bands playing, all in all very ordinary. The entire are was a single narrow street approx 200 meters in length. We spent maybe an hour looking around we went thru most of it twice to fill the hour.

We then left and went to the lakeview Hotel sat outside with a great view of the lake a beautifull cool breeze blowing thru and some excellent Tucker while we chatted away almost 4 hours whilst watching some nice Classic Cars go cruising by.. OH Yeah Cool Cruzer we saw you cruise by, car looks fantastic.

The Cruise up and back and the lunch stop at the Lake View were the highlights of the day. Ballarat Beat you gotta lift your game if you want to challenge Camperdown

Oh yeah we fuelled up before leaving Ballarat for home and as i was driving down the Monash the Petrol Fumes were getting stronger and stronger, Kept rolling as it was 30+ degrees outside and I wasn't getting in or under at that stage.
Got home to find fuel flowing from the Fuel tank under the car, have flushed it away but it seems I have a problem, will check it out Tomorrow. Here's some pics.

I'll have to post pics later problem with host

Hey Cool Cruzer, You must have walked right past us going into the pub, we were sitting outside, at the Tables, we saw you go past the pub in the Car but before we realised it was you, you were gone. You musta walked right past us, I guess we dont look like car guys. As you say would have been great to have a drink and a Chat. My car was in the side street beside the pub, couldnt get a spot out front.

Dave,

So the council stuffed it up!!

How strange? When the original recipe makes a beautiful "Chocolate Cake" don't mess with it and try to make a "Caramel Cake"

Lucky for you guys you had great company to share the day Very Happy

Yeah very true, if not for good company it would have been a complete flop.

Arthur who ran this and runs Camperdown was originally promised Lydiard St a much better and vastly bigger venue, but then the Council in thier wisdom decided Camp St would do. That's why these things need to be left to those who know what they are doing, I bet the punters who paid $140 for a 2 day pass would have been pissed off. Remember at Texas Holdem we met the guy with that Pink / Orange / Red whatever colour it was Babybird mate of Kevins, He's self employed and took Friday off.
he reckons it cost him nearly $1k for the weekend with accomodation etc, and he was too late to get his car in, you had to be at the gates at 7am.
