"Shake Down" Repairs for BING
Hi all,
Well, BING is starting to clock up a few K's (sorry mile's) and as l said she's in 'Shake Down' mode, all those little things that come up after you build a car.
After the Kustom Nationals last week at Phillip Island a few things have come up that required attention.
Firstly, l finally got around to filling the tank to the brim - MISTAKE, the seal at the top of the filler neck had perished so l lost a good portion and then more when l went through a roundabout.
Condition of failed seal.
Boot trim had to be removed.
Location of the seal.
Close-up of filler neck where it has been leaking.
Next was the 'Rear Axle Seal', the RHR seal failed leaving oil all over the backing plate & tyre. Once removed it was obvious why when it was replaced back in the States they damaged the seal putting it in & they didn't fit gaskets
An easy repair until l got to the LHR, the wheel bearing seal had failed due to poor fitment (Surprise !, l swear they don't know how to repair cars) and in turn the bearing is failing - so l just put it back together until l get new bearing.
Finally, the front suspension has started to 'Squeak', l mean really squeak. gets me - all the bushes are NEW, so a bit of 'spray lube' and hopefully it finds it's was to the right places.
So that's Saturday, BING got a bit of a interior clean ready for tomorrow's breakfast gathering and now I'm inside sore like l was a few months back, typing on the Forum.
Catch you all

Hey Nick,
NO, it wasn't a "TOTAL NUT & BOLT" restro, Bing is nearly 50 years old and these mechanical and hidden bits DO fail.
