Hi All
I'm keen to get in some cruising happening, i know it's the middle of winter but these cars wont disove in water, Ok so your in HIBERNATION !!!
When will you all be ready to go cruising.

Can we organise some cruises for this WEBSITE, now that it's becoming a Website, (Love the mame Thunderbirds Downunder) why not get some monthly cruises happening. doesn't need to be a full on club just a group of TBirds cruising together, maybe set up a small commitee 2 or 3 guys to organise a cruise for each month, I'm happy to be involved.
Come on guys who else wants to help

Hi BigBird,

perfect timing, the website is moving slowly but we are going to have section for each state so you guys can post up events there for all to see and they will be summarized by date.

I am working on my car as well but the website is taking my mind off my troubles too!

Thanks a lot,.

Hi BigBird
The idea of organising some cruises in the better weather has certainly been discussed on several occasions and no doubt will happen, we wont be setting up a formal club but several members here are keen to do some regular monthly cruises, even joining in with LGC or the Classic & Rod Club, a TBird contingent within the cruise, great way to meet new people and enjoy some other superb classic cars.

If you'd like to come up with some ideas on destinations etc, feel free to do so.
A number of us have already done a couple of really good cruises where we picked a country Pub approx 100 - 150k's from Melbourne maximum, wouldn't need to be a Pub a nice park venue for a picnic with good parking and BBQ facilities would also be a great destination, have someone organise some activities, cricket match some games etc. make it a great day.

In my opinion one of the most Important aspects is cruising as a group, I'm a member of the Classic & Rod Club and when they Cruise it's about the Cruise experience as much as the destination they meet at a point as close to as many Members as possible usually Skye then head to a second meet point in the West or North if the cruise is heading in that direction so you are part of a cruise group from near home to the destination, the President Joe usually goes at the back of the cruise and the Vice Pres Sam leads the convoy they are incontact with each other and if anyone has a problem everyone stops and helps, That's the way to run a cruise regardless of where it's going. last one I did was excellent a huge number of cars all travelling in convoy nothing looks better, If we do these cruises that's how they will be run maybe a little regimented for some but I guarantee the vast majority will love it.

work out what time you'd need to be at the destination and then work backwards thru the meeting points to the start point to establish the times.

As i said if anyone wants to arrange a cruise that's fine just make sure you are well organised and at no point is it a cruise It's just a group of friends going for a drive.

Since the above post I've had several PM's from members asking why we wouldn't form a club thru this Forum, the answer is simple, most of us are members of the Thunderbird Owners Club Victoria, we really enjoy the events organised by the club and the atmosphere at these events so we see no need at this stage for anything to change.

Who knows what will happen in the future but at this stage I think we are all enjoying things just the way they are. One of our Members Bigbird has indicated that he will be starting up a club shortly which will cater to all makes and models of American Iron, He will be setting up a Forum as well, I wish him all the luck with it. so when he's got it all up and running i'll post the information here and you can make your own decision as to whether you want to be part of it. I've made him aware i will not be joining any other clubs at this point in time. I enjoy the Thunderbird Club & The Classic & Rod Club along with the cruises we've done on this Forum, that's plenty for me. So please lets just leave the club thing behind for now. Dave

If you'd like to help Bigbird get his club up and going just PM him thru this Forum.
