Got me a TBird convertible
Hi everyone.
Well i now own a white 64 Tbird convertible, I even beat SuzieQ to being a TBird owner, a friend lives in Cranbourne and owns a Baby Bird he put me in touch with a guy in Berwick, who has 3 cars and is selling them off. I drove over on Saturday in my Trans Am and did a deal, His son wants the Trans Am and I love the convertible, so we did a swap.
It drives beautifully. so smooth and it's in amazing condition, I took a guy from work with me he restores Fairlanes and other old Fords he gave iy a clean bill of health, It had the roadworthy done Today, all good the owner has receipts for lots of stuff including all the roof mechanism It goes up and down really smoothly. I pick her up on Friday. thanks TonyB for convincing me I could drive it. I just love it. Suzie is jealous, she's bought a Baby Bird in America so she has to wait for it to get here, I'll let her tell you about it. I'll get some photos of my newbaby Bird up on the weekend.

Re: Got me a TBird convertible
Very impressive, Congratulations Linda,
That's a bonus getting one that's had the big ticket item done, The roof operating mechanism is what's put me off buying a Vert, If i could find one that's had all that done I'd probbably take the plunge, although I'd have to sell my present car. I can't see the point in having more than 1 car I barely get enough time to enjoy using the one I've got.
So White paint what colour is the roof and trim, looking forward to seeing some pics.
Welcome to Thunderbird Ownership It's a group that is growing rapidly.

Congrats Linda and welcome to the TBird ownership club. I hope you have as many exciting times in your new girl as we have in ours, keep it clean you blokes I'm refering to the cars.
I'd love to hear all about your first topless adventure, no roof that is.
Unlike some all years are good even those past 64, he he he.
I'm glad my little rant was enough to make you seriously consider getting a convertible. At least you now know what the others are missing out on, lol.
Looking forward to seeing on the road some time,
Tony.

Re: Got me a TBird convertible
Hi everyone,
I cant tell you how disappointed I am I went on saturday to swap over my car for the TBird, initially thursday & friday I had a lot of trouble contacting the owner his wife kept saying he's not home not sure when he will be, on saturday i though i'm going there so i went to do the deal, the owner was there he said oh I'm very sorry there has been a mistake, the deal would have to be the Trans Am plus $10,000 as a trade for the Thunderbird. I explained that this was never discussed but he says it was always the case, his son who wanted the trans am and did most of the dealing wasn't home so they said but when i was leaving i saw him out the back, My Partner came home from work and went to see them he demanded to talk to the son but it was the same story he got nowhere either so i guess that's it, I'll save some more and eventually trade the Trans Am on a Convertible TBird. I'm still going to get one after driving it with the roof down I've fallen in love with the car so my sights are set on it, not this one but another will come along. Linda.

Re: Got me a TBird convertible
hey linda sorry to hear the bsad news, don't be disheartened your dream car will show up soon and the deal will be done.
have you considerd selling the Trans Am in the mene time it may be easier down the track to deal in cash and not try and swap.
Any way sorry again and chin up.
Tony.
