I want a Bird
I've always wanted a Thunderbird since I saw American graffiti with the Blonde in the White Thunderbird. I kow there are Big and Little ones how much would a little one cost me.
I've been thinking I could sell the Falcon and get one, I think I could get around $40,000 for the Falcon and selling it would really upset my Ex .
here's a pic of my baby, Mockup GT
Later Suzie Q

Re: I want a Bird
Hi Sue,
l like the idea of upsetting the ex. That looks like a nice XY!! Love it!!
The little (Baby) Bird could cost you $35k for a base model up to...don't know say 70k+, someone else here should have that answer. You can check Car Sales and there are a few there but on the expensive side or maybe check for cars in the US and get one imported?
Tell us what you are looking to do with the car, what suburb you live in etc and we can help you further. One thing to keep in mind is if you are over 5' 8" tall or thereabouts you will have trouble getting comfortable in these models; get a test drive first.
Oh yeah, get someone familiar with these cars to help you inspect it before making any offers etc. I have been told that the front end of baby birds is one piece, so replacing a guard does prove a challenge. Have a read of this website and follow along, the guy is up for a challenge: http://riseofthethunderbird.wordpress.com/author/ckp720/
Anyway, welcome to Forum Sue.

Graeme,
It looks like my VW Splitty !!! but you have to fabricate a lot of panels.
>> It just opened my eyes to the Baby Birds ~ Look closely when purchasing, paint can hide a lot.

Hi Sue
Great to have another Female member.
Love the Car, Mockup or Genuine doesn't matter it looks very very cool.
Do your homework Sue before jumping into the purchase of a baby Bird, talk to lots of people, they are a cool looking car but like most things have thier downsides as well.
if you are really keen join the Thunderbird Owners Club lots of good advice to be had in the club.
I'm sure you'll get just as many if not more looks in a TBird and get just as turned on
Cheers Dave

Re: I want a Bird
Hi Guys
Thanks for all the advice, I am going to look at a couple over the next few weeks, would anyone here be able to come with us my Girlfriend & I, or meet us I'm happy to pay costs and Time.
My best girlfriend is pestering me, to ask if she can join the forum. She's like me single, her partner died in a car accident 6 months ago, she's got a Smokey & the Bandit Trans Am not sure if that's a Classic or not or what year it is, I think it's about 1980 but it's not a chrome bumper car. So can she join up. She is very friendly and loveable, kinda like having a pet, Oh shit she's gonna kill me .

Re: I want a Bird
Hi Sue,
Very amusing ha ha.
I don't know anything about the baby birds, someone here should be able to help. Can you tell us what area/suburb you are from, might make it simpler to arrange something?
I reckon your girlfriend is more than welcome to join, we need a member with an American car that has air con and can actually stop in a reasonable distance as our pace car And if she wants a tickle behind the ears...hmmm....lets not go there!!@

Hi SuziQ,
how naughty is that comment; well very. Better get the moderator of the forum to mark this thread as 'BLUE'!
I think there are 2 engine sizes, 292 and 312 with auto as an option. If you have not looked here yet Suzie, it has lots of good info:

No problems Sue, tell her to join up, Technically an 80 trans Am doesn't fall under the Classic Car umbrella but who gives a continental we're all about cars.
if she's anything like you she'll be very welcome here. Us blokes get sick of talking to each other, It's nice to have some Feminine input.

Re: I want a Bird
Thanks guys so much for all the help and advice, I put an ad for my Falcon on the notice board at work and one of the guys in production wants to buy it, He offered me $34,000 this morning I said No this afternoon he offered $35,000. I said no again, Oh shit I'm nervous
OH I hope I'm doing the right thing here, 35000 is a lot for an XY Falcon he might not make another offer, he's coming over on Saturday to have a good look and Drive it so saying no hasn't scared him off. From the TBird Ads I've seen that would get me a baby bird.
I drove a 56 last night belongs to a friend in Cranbourne, really nice car White just like the one in American Graffitti, it drove beautifull, I was a little worried as I'm 5'9" tall but I am quite skinny I fitted ok and it felt great I was a bit dissapointed with the power, He's got $45,000 on it but offered to sell it to me for $40,000 with RWC and Full Rego. Not sure thou, I might take mr64tbird up on his offer to check it out if it's still stands. I'm getting excited about this, but I dont want to buy a junker. SuzieQ
